The Stegosaurus lived in the late Jurassic perios (150 to 140 million years ago) and was  a Herbivore or plant eater that lived in the North America area.  Stegosaurus means "roof lizard" grew  to aout 30ft and 14ft high (roughly the size of a bus) but a came in a bit heavy than a bus at over 5 tons (eat a lot of pies?) Being quite social the lived and travelled in herds.

• One of the most recognisable dinosaurs along with Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops
• Had a distinctive and unusual posture, with a heavily rounded back with short forelimbs, head held low to the ground and a stiffened tail held high in the air
• The spikes were most likely used for defence.
• The brain was the size of a small dog, possibly the smallest among dinosaurs
• The first fossils were discovered in 1876 in Morrison , Colorado
• Due to its short legs, it probably couldn't walk very fast, maybe 4 to 5 mph at the most
• Diet consisted mainly of mosses, ferns and fruits. Eating grass would not be an option since grass did not evolve until late in the Cretaceous Period(90 million years ago)
• Declared the State Dinosaur of Colorado in 1982
