1930's Classic Black Phone

1930's Classic Black Phone

First introduced in 1937, the Desk Phone makes a statement of style, grace and elegance. Designed by the prolific industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss, he used ear to mouth measurements from 2000 people to create the ergonomic handset. The 302 was one of the first phones to incorporate the bell in the base of the unit. Originally cast in metal, this piece was later produced using a heavy -duty plastic housing. The phone's appearance, combined with a rugged construction earned it the nickname "The Cow's Hoof" because of its lipped hoof-style base. The early desk version served as the standard for the better part of world War II telephone design efforts were halted due to defence work. The Series 302 Desk Phone is surly a conversation piece in any setting. Simply plugs into a standard phone socket.
